Minutes of the General Meeting held on Monday Feb 1, 2020

The meeting was called to order at approx. 8:02 p.m. - on-line Moderator/Chair. – President David Gilmour
Attendance – 20 members: Keith Lawson, Cindy Thomas, Dave & Patti Gilmour, Doris Avery, Michael Hockley, Bonnie Ault, Francine Gillanders, Brian Murphy, Mary Curl, Christine Burton, Karen Parton, Deanne Sinnott, Lee & Mary Jane Nowak, Jane Holicka, Leah Quiring, Marta Nettelfield, Mike & Jenny Catton

Reminder: A quick reminder that there is a prize at the end of the year for everyone that has attended a meeting, served on the exec or a committee. You get one entry for every meeting attended, committee served on or exec position. They go into a hat at the end of the year and a name is drawn.

Minutes: 
Dave: I would like to call this meeting to order and start by thanking everyone for coming out. If you could please type your names for attendance.

Dave: As everyone should of had time to read last month's minutes is there any errors or omissions?
If not so I move the minutes be adopted as written

Dave: Thx Cindy. Is there any business arising from the minutes?
As yet we have no treasurer's report but will post later in meeting if we get one otherwise it will posted in the minutes

• Dave: Thx Mary. I think it is going to be hard to plan anything at this point till things settle down.

Programme: Jane

• Dave: While we are waiting to hear from Jane could we have the membership report please

Membership Committee: Doris

• Doris We have received a new member application for Radhakrishnan Swaminathan and his wife Deepti Jolly from Ajax, Ontario.  His sponsors Mary Curl and Medley Small have been contacted.  If anyone has any concerns, please let me know. 
• Also I'd like to welcome Bonnie Ault who has completed her Probationary Status and is now an Ordinary Member of the BCCI.  Welcome Bonnie!
• Dave: Congrats Bonnie
• Bonnie: Thank you everyone!
• Dave: The new member application is for the gentleman that has been hosting The Indian Boxer Ring interviews. If you have seen them they can be found on youtube. they are quite informative.
• Francine: he is doing an excellent job with these interviews. a lot of knowledge
• Brian: There is also a Facebook page

Obedience Committee:  Marta Nettelfield

• Marta: No Report
• Dave: Thx Marta. There is a new set of rules out for Obedience and rally so make sure to check out the CKC site or order a set off the site
• Marta: I sat in on the webinar weekend before last.

Awards Committee: Mary, Shirley, Marta, Cindy

• Mary: If anyone has awards to apply for from 2020 please send us your application forms

Special Service Award Committee: Debbie Allardyce – (not in attendance)

• Patti: No report

Judges Education Committee: Shirley, Mary Dave

Reading of General Correspondence: Mellissa   (not in attendance)

• Dave: Mary did you get any correspondence from Melissa ?
• Mary: No I did not.,
• Francine: i have someone looking for a puppy or a retired boxer, Kitchener area, please contact me if you have something available or know someone who might have and i will pass your information on, this is a good home.

Old Business:  

• Brian: Did we receive a letter /email from CWDF re letter of support? It's usually around this time
• Dave: To my knowledge no Brian
• Cindy: I got the email Brian but haven't had time to look at it. I will take a look at it.
• Brian: Thanks Cindy, I think the letter to CKC is due first week of Feb?
• Christine: Club that previously applied for Regional for 2020 that was cancelled due to covid do they need to re-apply for 2021
• Dave: I think what we were looking at Christine was everything was going to just roll forward a year so nobody gets left out

Good & Welfare: Jane Holika

• Jane: Health & Wellness: We have said a last goodbye to Lillian on  Jan 12th. She appreciated members notes.
• Are all members in a  good health, safe and sound ?

New Business:

• Dave: I have something here from Jane which deserves some attention.  From Jane Holicka

I believe that all of you have been in a situation when a new puppy owner asked whether you can recommend a good obedience trainer or where to learn how to show the dog. While you might be familiar with quality places and trainers in your area you might had reached out to a friend in another province to help you out.

Yes, there is a lot of info available on the internet but if you don’t know what you don’t know the outcome might not be a positive experience. Why do we don’t help ourselves and all boxer families, and create a list of activities and places to do them, and post it on our BCC site and FB?  

If you’re in, please complete list whatever is good and available in your geographical area or other you’re familiar with and send it directly to Jane at xelascon@cogeco.ca.  Please feel free to add any other activity, suggestion or recommendation. Don’t worry about duplications, it will get consolidated and cleaned up.
These are the items we need information on:
Province / Area / Training & information / Conformation handling / Puppy & Obedience / Agility & Sport / Trick dogs / Scent Detection /Dock Diving
Please respond by Feb 15th, if possible.

• Dave: Yes she has listed it in the message I posted
• Jane: I've prepared the Excel sheet to  capture the info. I'll send it out to all.
• Cindy: Jane, I would also post this in the BCC member group as well.
• Jane: Certainly. Thanks for the suggestion.

Dave: If not thanks for everyone for coming out and now we need to put on our thinking caps to help Jane out.
